The Door County Kayak Gathering is designed to make kayaking more fun and to help you improve your skills. With 3 days on the water, you'll cover a comprehensive range of paddle techniques, boat stability, maneuvering, and rescues. Along the way we may delve into risk & group management, weather, navigation and more!
Our experienced instructors are passionate about kayaking and are dedicated to teaching you. You will work in a small designated group for the weekend (your Crew) with generous instructor/participant ratios. Designed to enhance your development as a kayaker, DCKG will help you develop new skills and confidence. Whether you are new to the sport or have miles under your PFD, we invite you to join us for the 2nd Door County Kayak Gathering! With space for only 36 participants, sign up now! DCKG ITINERARY All scheduled events begin and end at DCKG Headquarters at Potawatomi State Park. Thursday July 9th 4 – 7 pm Welcome Gathering: Burgers, beer, brats! DCKG Headquarters. Meet with your Instructors & Crew to get your paddling plan for Friday. Friday July 10th 8 am – 4 pm Crews meet at DCKG Headquarters, pick up box lunches and travel to your venue for the day. Breakfast is on your own. 6 pm – 9 pm Return to DCKG Headquarters for dinner and socializing. Meet with your Instructors & Crew to get your paddling plan for Saturday. Saturday July 11th 8 am – 4 pm Crews meet at DCKG Headquarters, pick up box lunches and travel to your venue for the day. Breakfast is on your own. .6 pm – 9 pm Return to DCKG Headquarters for dinner and socializing. Meet with your Instructors & Crew to get your paddling plan for Sunday. Sunday July 12th 8 am – 3 pm Crews meet at DCKG Headquarters, pick up box lunch and travel to your venue for the day. Breakfast is on your own. 3:30 pm – 5 pm Return to DCKG Headquarters for Gathering Celebration and wrap-up. Finger Food provided! Come share your thoughts and stories! DATES July 9-12, 2026 DURATION 4 days, 3 days on the water LOCATION Each day begins and ends at the DCKG Headquarters. Potawatomi State Park. 3740 Park Dr. Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 COST $450. Price includes: 3 days of on water instruction, Thursday evening Social Gathering (food and beer), daily box lunches, Friday & Saturday dinner, Sunday Celebration and wrap-up with finger food! NOTE: A Wisconsin State Park pass is required to enter the park. You can purchase upon entry to the park or online in advance. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission. KAYAK EQUIPMENT Required equipment: sea kayak (at least 14′) , bulkheads bow and stern with static deck lines, PFD, spray deck, paddle, paddle float and bilge pump. [email protected] CAMPING We have reserved 2 group campsites at Potawatomi State Park for 4 nights, Thursday-Sunday, so you don't have to break camp on Sunday morning before paddling. Tent sites are available in the group sites for $40 for the 4 nights. (Thursday-Sunday). You can reserve a site by adding the cost to your reservation. GENERAL INFORMATION The gathering is for participants 18yrs and older. Participants will be paddling each day in a Crew with Instructors from various site locations. Sites may change daily depending upon experience desired, weather and instructional considerations. Participants will be responsible for transporting their kayaks and gear to the launch sites. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings Crews will meet to plan logistics for the next day. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration is now open! It is our intention to be fair with everyone who must cancel their reservation. However, limitations must be set because we incur pre-event expenses. The following policy is enforced when you cancel. Notice of cancellation must be made in writing. If this notice is received in our office: • 30 weekdays or more before the event date, you will be reimbursed 70% of your full payment. • 15-29 weekdays before the event date, 50% of payment received will be credited toward another program via a redeemable gift certificate. Credited fees from cancelled program/trips must be used within 1 year of the original trip departure or will be forfeited to the Team Leadership Center, Inc. • 14 days or less before the event date, no refund or credit will be given regardless of the time of registration. Full payment will be refunded if a program is cancelled because of insufficient enrollment or at the discretion of the Team Leadership Center, Inc. |
